A proven leader with the experience to deliver big for the region

PADUCAH, KY — State Senator Danny Carroll (R-Paducah) today officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the Kentucky State Senate, representing the 2nd District encompassing Ballard, Carlisle, Livingston, Marshall, and McCracken counties.

Since first taking office, Senator Carroll has established himself as a champion for children, law enforcement, nuclear energy, economic development, fiscal responsibility, and Western Kentucky values. His leadership has been instrumental in bringing transformative economic opportunities to the region, while maintaining Kentucky’s commitment to conservative principles.

“Serving the people of Western Kentucky in the State Senate has been the honor of my lifetime,” said Senator Carroll. “I’ve seen some remarkable progress take hold in our region. We’re creating jobs, lowering taxes, and right now we’re positioning our region as a leader in advanced nuclear energy and manufacturing. But the work is never finished, and I’m asking voters for their continued trust to keep fighting for the priorities that matter most to our communities.”

A Record of Results

• Sponsored landmark legislation helping create 17,000 new jobs and $9 billion in investments to Kentucky.
• Championed Nuclear Energy development in Kentucky: SB 11 (2017 Leeper Act), which lifted the moratorium on nuclear energy in the Commonwealth, SJR 79 (2023), which established the nuclear energy working group, SB 198 (2024), which established the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority (KNEDA), SJR 140, which directed the Public Service Commission (PSC) to make all preparations necessary for the advancement of nuclear energy in the Commonwealth, and SB 179 (2025), which established the KNEDA Grant program. As a result of these efforts and others, Kentucky is now recognized as a major player in the advancement of nuclear energy in the United States.
• Secured record education funding while serving as a member of the Legislative School Safety Working Group.
• Supported tax reform efforts that made Kentucky’s business climate more competitive.
• Led efforts to strengthen support for law enforcement and advance policies to combat illegal drugs.
• Co-Chair of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) working group tasked with developing policies to address the crisis facing DJJ detention centers (SB 162, 2023).

Looking Ahead

Senator Carroll pledges to continue his focus on:

• Economic Growth: Attracting high-paying jobs and supporting small businesses.
• Energy Innovation: Building on the success of the Nuclear Energy Development initiative to establish Western Kentucky as an energy hub, and the epicenter of nuclear energy development in the Commonwealth.
• Education Excellence: Ensuring schools have the resources and environment they need to teach our kids, while maintaining local control and parental rights.
• Early Childhood Education (Child Care): Continuing efforts to increase access to all delivery models of early Childhood Education, while supporting families, businesses, and providers. Early Childhood Education/Child Care is crucial to the development of our youngest students and a critical workforce issue.
• Public Safety: Working to continue efforts to restore the Department of Juvenile Justice to stability, especially the passage of laws to support those DJJ-involved youth with mental illness, backing law enforcement and continuing the fight against illegal drugs.
• Conservative Values: Upholding limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual liberty.

Senator Carroll currently serves as Chairman of the Families and Children Committee. He also serves on the Judiciary Committee, Education Committee, Health Services Committee, Legislative Oversight and Investigations Committee, Juvenile Justice Oversight Board, Medicaid Oversight and Advisory Board, Governor’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, Child Fatality and Near Fatality Review Panel, and the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority (KNEDA) Board. He is also a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Nuclear Legislative working group.
